During the seven-day period of August 19 – 25, 2024:

  • SoundThinking sent 804 ShotSpotter alerts to CPD, totaling 3,957 rounds fired.  
  • This number of alerts represents an increase of 21.5% compared to the week before.
  • ShotSpotter’s average alert response time was 23 seconds from the time of first round fired, to the time of alert publication.
  • SoundThinking sent 56 ShotSpotter alerts tagged as likely coming from a fully automatic weapon.
  • The 7th Ward experienced the highest volume of gunfire (whether measured by alerts, or round count) with 77 ShotSpotter Alerts totaling 359 rounds fired.
  • The 15th Ward experienced the highest volume of Full Auto weapons fire (measured by round count) with 6 Full Auto ShotSpotter Alerts totaling 148 rounds fired.
